well, for one thing, try to go to Control Panel > User accounts > click on ur username > and select "remove my password" if there is any option like that..

if there isn't an option like that, then that means there are more than one user accounts on your computer which will make windows show the welcome screen every time you log on ... So what you need to do there is erase all accounts except the one you are going to use if you want XP to log in without stopping at the welcome screen...
