pauledavey Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 Has anyone out there managed to strip down IE6 flatpack? Ive downloaded the files from MS and have a 78MB folder. When I install Ie6sp1 it installs a total of 18.1MB.Experimenting, I can delete certain cabs files before I install IE, as it doesnt install the components in those cabs(i have a custom IE install).Does anyone have a list of the cabs and what each one does? I want to try and strip out all the cabs file that are not needed for a very basic IE6 install.
Alanoll Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 i'll look later, but off the top of my head....you can safely delete the ones like _2k or _NT if your not installing to those systems,
oioldman Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 Hello,On the MSFN.org homepage it has a link on the left side column, that says "IE6 SP1 Full Download" under Misc. Downloads. Following those intructions you should be able to downlaod the IE6SP1 cab files for the OS your using, e.g Xp in this case which believe when i did it was only about 15Mb in size. It doesn't contain any of the NT / W2K or W9x stuff. You will when done need to pull down all the updates to IE, which can be garnered from this url at M$ =>http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downlo...cal/default.asphope that helps.....

Alanoll Posted May 6, 2004 Posted May 6, 2004 I sure hope you're not isntalling XP, or you're wasting that 15 megs.
