Is Antivirus Needed On Linux?

this has been a big thing over the past few years and was wondering what the best option for antivirus is on linux and what ones work best? I'm working on slowly moving away from windows and would like to know if this is true (or if it's just a thing with linux) if anyone could help with thisnit would be.much appreciated-legacyfan
