Greetings:

I'm trying to implement Recovery Console (RC) via RIS and I've met with some degree of success following the instructions in the following MS KB article:

<http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316558>

However, still some questions:

1) Using the KB article above, I get separate entries for RC for each OS image under the Automatic Setup menu in RIS. However, according to the Help file in MMC:

"You can also make the Recovery Console available to a user of a RIS client computer if the client computer is configured to support it. When the Recovery Console is available to a user, it is displayed in the Client Installation Wizard under Maintenance and Troubleshooting."

Can't find any info to make it work this way. Anyone have any experience doing this?

2) I can't get the SET command to work in RC for 2003 Server. I got it to work in W2K, XP and W2K Server via the Domain Group Policy Setting for Recovery Console. Anyone know why it's not being applied to 03 Server?

Many thanks in advance.

You mean enabling the set command? Even if you enable the set command, everytime you use recovery console you have to type set whatever = true. The 2 registry keys for RC haven't changed since win2k, it should be the same in win2k3.

Gosh - Thanks for your response.

Yes, I've been trying to run the set command but it's not enabled. that's the problem. One would think that things haven't changed in this area in 03 Server but I'm thinking maybe they have.
