Unattend without cdkey and owner name

Recommended Posts

I want to make an auto install , but not fully unattend, as I want the user to fill his name and his cd-key.

I tried to blank these fields in my winnt.sif, and it's working, but with an error message saying the unattend is not complete. This is not very "user-friendly"...

merci de votre aide ;-)

Change your winnt.sif to this:

[unattended]

UnattendMode=DefaultHide

And leave out the ProductKey=XX.... and [user Data] section

would it work if you had a product key but none of the other information?

when we sell expensive gaming computers, depending on who it's for, I usually make them an unattended CD based on their original OEM copy and set it up to install the correct drivers and applications for their system.... then of course I give them two copies of windows, original and unattended... but still, with the unattended disks I don't like to put in the Username, BusinessName and ComputerName, I like to leave that up to the customer, but I do want to include their CD Key so they don't have to type it in

"depending on who it's for" meaning "if they aren't smart enough to be able to do it all themselves" :rolleyes: it saves us a lot of time fixing their screwed windows because they can do it themselves very easily... they don't even have to bring the pc in to the shop or phone us :)
