Clean Alt-Tab in Windows 8.1

This old topic describes how to get alt tab without windows previews and without the glitchiness of the classic alt registry option for windows 8, but the supplied dll doesn't work for windows 8.1. i tried hex editing my own dll as described, but the the strings mentioned no longer exist.

Does anyone have any idea how this might be done on windows 8.1?
