Tadly Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 Hey Guys, You seem to be a very helpful forum.Hopefully you can help me out here. I'm having a problem connecting to some shares on Windows NT 4.0. The problem is that when trying to access a share by \\computername\sharename from the start>run or from Internet Explorer I get errors. From run I get "Folder not found" and from IE I just get a blank screen. I know these folders are accessable and I can access them without problems if I map them to a drive through windows explorer, and I can also map them manually using the NET USE at the dos prompt. The problem is when I try and access the shares from the IE or the run menu. Any ideas?
Tadly Posted March 17, 2004 Author Posted March 17, 2004 Well after a ton of narrowing it down, this appears to be related to the NoNetHood key in the registry which is used to remove network neighborhood from the desktop. Apparently on NT it also removes network access from explorer, though it is still possible through the command prompt.
