dubsdj Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 If you are already fed up of that Seattle login picture for all users. Here is how to change it:browse to: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\SystemData\S-1-5-18\ReadOnly\LockScreen_Zyou will need to assign yourself permissions to get there.once you have got there, replace the picture in that folder with your new picture. Give it the same name and probably needs to be the same size.check the permissions of the picture and ensure you have given the SYSTEM user full control over the picture (or you will just get a blue background!)that's it!I've got the surface of Mars now..
MagicAndre1981 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I always disable this useless crap. It is an useless thing on a desktop PC
dubsdj Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 What?? So what do you have in its place?? XP login screen or something? Nothing like classic
MagicAndre1981 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I want to go directly to the normal logon screen. This LockScreen is useless on a PC.
dubsdj Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 Hi no am not talking about the lock screen that's seperate. I'm talking about the actual logon screen.
dubsdj Posted October 31, 2012 Author Posted October 31, 2012 each user can set their own lock screen.this picture appears when you first power the pc on...and when users log out..

Kelsenellenelvian Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 \LockScreen_Z Folder\File location says "lockscreen" What more proof do you need? A BIG POP UP SIGN that says it too?
maxXPsoft Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 (edited) just edit your first post and use full editor and you can change title Tired of Login picture on Windows 8 maybe toChange Lockscreen background on Windows 8AGAIN. THIS IS THE LOCKSCREEN AND NOTHING ELSE!and your point is? someone shared a mod is all. perhaps he didn't name it correctlyUntil we disable it since I do use Logon I prefer to replace it with my own so I just added some resolutions I use in VM$OEM$\$1\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\SystemData\S-1-5-18\ReadOnly\LockScreen_ZLockScreen___1024_0768_notdimmed.jpgLockScreen___1280_0800_notdimmed.jpgLockScreen___1440_0900_notdimmed.jpgIt works instead of that childish pic.If you change the resolution after reboot the folders return to being locked down again Edited November 1, 2012 by maxXPsoft
dubsdj Posted November 1, 2012 Author Posted November 1, 2012 (edited) Honestly, I'm surprised about how offensive ppl are when all I was doing was sharing some useful tips that I found.and I never said it wasn't a lockscreen, I was just trying to separate the fact that it also acts as the default logon background when on a domain environment... go try it yourselves if you think im talking a load of C%*p.cannot for the life of me undertstand why everyone gets so worked up about it...Won't bother sharing info in the future.. not worth it when I get nothing but abuse.PS. Can an admin change the post name to "CHANGE THE LOCKSCREEN" I tried to but can't find out how..Just to make everyone happy. Edited November 1, 2012 by dubsdj
maxXPsoft Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 (edited) PS. Can an admin change the post name to "CHANGE THE LOCKSCREEN" I tried to but can't find out how..Just to make everyone happy.I'm happy cause you made me look into it a little further since I didn't like the image they had and don't understand why the mess either. pitifulChoose Edit on first post. Once open select Full editor at bottom and you should be able to edit. I think you can but maybe not since I'm a different levelFound easier way to replace.Go to Windows\Web\Screenimg100.png is DEFAULT LockScreen image. You can change that one and all the rest if you want then you are able to swap it in Settings on upper right mouse sweep which is harder with a mouse (hate this Win 8 mess , designed for a touch screen and i'm a mouser). At bottom Change PC settings and it comes up on lock screen. Small image there will still be the default but it loads your img100.pngNow each time you change the resolution it will use your pic Edited November 1, 2012 by maxXPsoft
