zanet
I've never done this before but may have to on my old 98se pc. I know there are lots of guides out there but they all seem like chinese to me. Would someone be prepared to provide me with some simple instructions. Just what discs I need, what I install (in what order) and how to start the process. That would be ideal. I have the mobo chipset, os, vid and sound card disks and boot disk (unofficial). Fredledingue
- (Re)start in DOS and type "FORMAT C"Then follow the instructions. Attention: This command will entirely erase the all the datas on the hard disc C! Don't type it unless you are sure all these datas can be deleted. If you don't need several partions (or if you don't know what a partition is) and your hard drive is less than 128 Gb, it's easy.If it's more than 128 Gb, you still can do with a single partition but you need to read the post about using W98 on large HDD.(see this page on my website for a list of all important/interresting forum conversations about w98)- After you formated C (it takes about 1/2 hour), install windows.- Then install the drivers EXCEPT USB and USB DEVICE DRIVERS!- Install U98SESP- Install the other softwares that you need- Install USB drivers ONLY IF the USB devices don't work already.More details in the hundreds threads of this forum.Take you time to read...Good luck.
