Searching contacts

When searching for contacts in my contacts, the search cannot find a contact that I know is in the contacts. I doesn't happen with all searches! mostly new entries. Can anybody explain & offer a solution?

Do you have sub folders in your contacts ?

How do you know it's in your Contacts? Oulook does not add contacts unless you have asked it to.
