No Speech icon in Control Panel

I am running XP Home.

I have sapi.cpl but don't have a Speech icon in Control Panel.

Is it supposed to be there?

If so, how can I fix it.

Check HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\don't load.

Hm, clicking on sapi.cpl should start the Speech GUI.

Is the sapi.cpl in the right place? eg. C:\windows\common bla...\microsoft shared\speech\...here

And when, I would copy it also to, eg. C:\windows\system32\...here

sapi.cpl does work, it just has no icon in Control Panel.

Look inf c:\windows\inf there should a file named sap5.inf, you might be able to fix your problem, by right clicking on sapi5.inf and do install.

By the way, the speech icon is in sapi.cpl.
