Reinstalling windows 7 on a laptop using a OEM DVD with a legal key

Is it possible to reinstall windows 7 on a laptop using a OEM DVD with a legal key ?

I was doing this with XP and it worked fine. I could format, partition the HD and then install a clean XP with the OEM key provided by the licence.

Is it still possible in Windows 7 ?

Hi Albator:

The original activation key may be used after reinstalling Windows 7 to activate it again whenever the same Windows version is installed. It is nevertheless allowed to use the same key for both 32 and 64 bits working modes.

activation key ? what do you mean.

I know about serial number and the activation process but I never heard about the activation process.
