Explorer09 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) Hello. It's hard to see someone still maintaining a list of .NET Framework updates.However, when I compare list of the updated files myself, I found something not mentioned on this thread:- KB2572073 actually replaces an optional update called KB976569, which is a forward compatibility update for .NET 2.0.- KB982167 is replaced by the combination of KB2418241 and KB2539631. In fact KB982167 is an update rollup that consists of KB976765 and KB980773, each replaced by KB2418241 and KB2539631 respectively. (Strangly enough, KB982167 is still offered by the Windows Update; I don't know why.)Perhaps tomasz86 would add such info into the post?EDIT: Correcting a typo. It's KB976765 (not KB979765) Edited December 30, 2011 by Explorer09
tomasz86 Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 (edited) Thanks I updated the first post:- KB982167 replaced by KB2418241 & KB2539631.By the way, do you perhaps have a full .NET 3.0-3.5 updates list too? I'd appreciate such a list a lot Edited October 13, 2011 by tomasz86
Explorer09 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 (edited) By the way, do you perhaps have a full .NET 3.0-3.5 updates list too? I'd appreciate such a list a lot Sorry for late reply.I do not actively check the .NET 3.5 updates now, so my list about these updates might be outdated.My computer have Windows XP and .NET 3.5 SP1, so anyone using .NET 3.0 (only) might get additional updates not mentioned below.Anyway, here's the list: (last update 2012-05-09)Updates | Patched component | Notes(All .NET 2.0 SP2 updates are needed for .NET 3.5 SP1) | ndp2.0sp2 |KB958481 (Download x86 x64 IA64) | ndp2.0sp2 | Note 1KB958483 (Download x86 x64) | ndp3.0sp2 | Note 1KB976769-v2 (Download) | ndp3.0sp2 | Note 2KB977354 (Download) | ndp3.0sp2 | Note 3KB2604110 (MS12-035, Download) | ndp3.0sp2 |KB2656407 (MS12-034, Download) | ndp3.0sp2 |KB958484 (Download x86 x64) | ndp3.5sp1 | Note 1KB963707 (Download) | ndp3.5sp1 |KB2657424 (MS11-100, Download) | ndp3.5sp1 |KB2604111 (MS12-035, Download) | ndp3.5sp1 |Note 1: KB958481, KB958483, and KB958484 are offered to people who did a fresh install of .NET 3.5 SP1 . Those who updated from 3.5 to 3.5 SP1 (via KB951847) do not need these updates. These should be installed in this order: KB958481 -> KB958483 -> KB958484.Note 2: KB976769-v2 is contained in KB982168 so install KB982168 instead. (The rest of the KB982168 update is the same as KB982167 -- containing KB976765 and KB980773 which are both replaced)Note 3: KB982524 contains KB977354 but KB977354 may be downloaded separately. (The file name says NDP30SP2-KB977354-v2-x86.exe but the "v2" word does not appear in the update list after installation.)Update 2012-03-12 : Removed KB953595 - this hotfix is included in the .NET 3.5 installer.Update 2012-05-09 : May 2012 Patch Tuesday. Add KB2604110, KB2656407 and KB2604111. Edited May 8, 2012 by Explorer09 1

tomasz86 Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Thank you for all information about these updates I'll try to update the list for .NET 2.0 and also add .NET 3.5 updates as soon as possible.
Explorer09 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 KB2539631 (MS11-069) is replaced by KB2633880 (MS12-016).
Dogway Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) So is this the right order after a 3.5 SP1 install?Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 KB958481-x86Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 KB979909-x86Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 KB2518864-x86Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 KB2572073-x86Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 KB2633880-x86Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 KB2656352-x86Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 SP2 KB958483-x86Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 KB958484-x86Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 KB963707-x86Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 KB982168-x86Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 KB982524-x86Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 KB2657424-x86(+3.5 SP1 Language pack)I would probably make an add-on, or integration to XP install, as installing 3.5 SP1 with its KB alone takes up more than half an hour to complete. hj_fr Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Hi,I have same KB like you, except :- KB953595 (old update ? because files in this KB are oldest that the files present in my system)- KB977354-v2 (old update ? I think not necessary)I also have :NDP20SP2-KB976569 (if you have .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and 4.0)
Dogway Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 (edited) KB953595 and KB977354-v2 are in Explorer09's list in his post, that's why I added themHe also mentioned about NDP20SP2-KB976569 being superseeded by KB2572073 in this other post.So, what should we do? Edited March 11, 2012 by Dogway
hj_fr Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Hi,- I found on the net that KB982524 supersede KB977354(-v2), but I can't confirm (no info on microsoft website)- KB953595 definitively not necessary- I can't confirm that KB976569 being superseeded by KB2572073 (no info on microsoft website)
Explorer09 Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Hi,- I found on the net that KB982524 supersede KB977354(-v2), but I can't confirm (no info on microsoft website)- KB953595 definitively not necessary- I can't confirm that KB976569 being superseeded by KB2572073 (no info on microsoft website)Microsoft tend to not mention the update replacement if the 2 updates are in different category. For example, KB2572073 is a security update while KB976569 is not, but if you compare the file versions you'll see that one update supersedes the other.Files KB976569 version | KB2572073 versionmscordacwks.dll: 2.0.50727.3607 (GDR) | 2.0.50727.3625 (GDR)mscordacwks.dll: 2.0.50727.4413 (LDR) | 2.0.50727.5681 (LDR)mscorlib.dll: 2.0.50727.3607 (GDR) | 2.0.50727.3625 (GDR)mscorlib.dll: 2.0.50727.4413 (LDR) | 2.0.50727.5681 (LDR)SOS.dll | 2.0.50727.3625 (GDR)SOS.dll: 2.0.50727.4413 (LDR) | 2.0.50727.5681 (LDR)mscorwks.dll: 2.0.50727.3607 (GDR) | 2.0.50727.3625 (GDR)mscorwks.dll: 2.0.50727.4413 (LDR) | 2.0.50727.5681 (LDR)For the KB982524 update, you should manually extract the contents in the EXE file, then notice the file NDP30SP2-KB977354.msp exists.
hj_fr Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 (edited) Explorer09> You're right ! Thanks.Finaly, KB982524 supersede KB977354(-v2) and KB2572073 supersede KB976569. Edited March 11, 2012 by hj_fr
Dogway Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 nice, so I only need to drop KB977354-v2-x86, I updated my list.
Explorer09 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 (edited) And hj_fr is right about KB953595. Yes, it is unnecessary because it's an optional hotfix. I'll correct the list.EDIT: I was wrong again. It's not just an optional hotfix. The reason KB953595 is unnecessary is because it is included in the installer of .NET 3.5 SP1.
