xmf
I believe this happened around the same time that I was tweaking startup programs and services. After re-enabling all the startup programs the system tray is still not displaying anything other than the clock (if that counts).Definitely not on auto-hide inactive iconsTIA

xmf
See if this link helps http://www.mydigitallife.info/disable-and-turn-off-system-tray-notification-area-to-hide-icons-in-windows-xp-and-vista/I appreciate the reply. The registry entry I have is different than the one shown in the linked tutorial (screenshot on left is mine).Perhaps this could be the source of the problem? allen2
Your reg entries have the wrong value type but are the cause of the problem. You should either remove the NoTrayItemsDisplay value or recreate it with right type (Dword and not binary) and set it to 0 if you want the Tray Items to be displayed.
