I've setup a WDS-server and everything is working just fine. Except one beauty problem:

When i use no answer file & i put in my keyboard layout and credentials manually i see the correct language pack names... however, when i do use an answer file i only see the "short" naming.. This is ugly. The language packs itself installs just fine. A picture says more than a thousand words, so i included 2 screenshots and my answer file to clarify things.

I think I’ve tried just about everything and i just can't find a solution.

Useful info:

- The problem occurs when using an answer file with the boot.wim file

- The server is a Windows 2008 R2 x64 UK SP1

- On the server the keyboard layout is nl-BE and en-US

- When i specify ONLY the server's credentials, i don't see the screen asking for the keyboard layout

- When i specify ONLY the keyboard layout, i see all the screens (includes: keyboard & credentials)

- Even when i specify both and also specify to show the screen to "always" it seems to ignore this setting

- Adding language packs to the boot.wim does not make a difference

- Adding language packs to the install.wim files or adding language packs during the setupfase does not make a difference

- I am using a Dutch boot.wim, but using an English boot.wim file does not make a difference

- I just use the WAIK tools... so i don't use MDT-2010 (and i don't want to :)) and i don't want to use tools like nLite, rt7lite, etc...

- I spend a lot of time on Google and the TechNet documentation... and I’m tired of seeing the same information over and over again :D

Our deployment scenario:

- We deploy with WDS every version of Windows Vista/7 x86/x64, so the windows selection screen must be present

- The main language install is Dutch... occasionally some other language then Dutch

- Sometime we have people who have data on their computer, so the disc partition screen must be present

- All our images are custom build (as in another default user profile etc...) and captured though the WDS-capture wizard.

Am i missing something? Is it a feature? Is it a bug? Thanks in advance for reading this post.

So to get that little window with language selection you did what exactly? :)

Nothing special that is what happens when you add the boot.wim file to a WDS-server. The installation screens when you boot from the DVD is indeed not the same, but the problem remains the same
