Error msas2k3.sys not found for XP Pro

I'm getting an error when I run an installation DVD saying:

msas2k3.sys is not found

And then the installation ends.

I'm using nLite 1.4.9.1

XP Pro sp2 has been copied to the hard drive in a folder C:\xp2

I'm trying to install AHCI drivers.

The drivers are located in C:\XP2SATADrivers

The folder has these files in it:

F6Readme.txt 81130 10/5/2010 11:59:54 AM

iaAHCI.cat 8854 9/22/2010 6:23:34 PM

iaAHCI.inf 5232 9/13/2010 6:11:26 PM

iaStor.cat 7962 9/22/2010 6:32:34 PM

iaStor.inf 3585 9/13/2010 6:11:26 PM

iaStor.sys 353304 9/13/2010 6:18:16 PM

license.txt 22644 5/28/2009 4:55:12 PM

TXTSETUP.OEM 6422 9/13/2010 6:11:26 PM

UNATTEND.TXT 154 5/1/2011 9:58:53 PM

When I run nLite:

I select Drivers, Bootable ISO

When the drivers list comes up I select insert:

multiple driver folder

c:\xp2satadrivers

I select only one driver:

Intel® Series/3400 Series SATA AHCI Controller

I run the process.

I write it to DVD.

I boot from the DVD where I want XP installed.

I get the error.

It's my understanding that the file it's looking for "msas2k3.sys is not found" is for Win 2000.

I'm not using Win 2000

nLite is not running in Win 2000 it's running in XP Pro.

I'm not trying to create anything with Win 2000.

My Session.ini file is attached

What do I need to do to get this to work?

Thanks,

Docfxit

You don't need to select multiple driver folder.

Is msas2k3.sys in the driver folder or perhaps mentioned in the inf files? This web page says its for LSI not Intel so I'm a bit confused. http://www.runscanner.net/lib/msas2k3.sys.html

PS. Why no SP3 and post SP3 updates? You are making an insecure OS.

EDIT: nm, I see now you listed the files in the driver folder

Thank you. That's nice to know.

I am not using sp3 because I have one IBM program that won't run in sp3. Hopefully I'll be getting rid of it soon.

So with the XP insisting that it has msas2k3.sys I need to do something.

I either need to find out why it wants it and stop it from asking for it.

Or

I need to find out how to incorporate the msas2k3.sys drivers into nLite.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

The file msas2K3.sys was most likely incorporated wrongly in your XP source CD as there is not such a file windows XP SP2.

You should always start working with a clean source when using nlite.

I do work with a clean source every time. That's why I explained every step I took in the first post so everyone would know I didn't import an old session presets file.

Maybe there is something in a setup file for nLite or INI file that I didn't create like I was supposed to?

It sounds like know body knows why nLite is creating a build that requires msas2k3.sys. So I'd like to know how I can include the drivers so XP is not looking for them.

Nlite didn't add a reference to it unless your txtsetup.oem or iastor.inf or iaahci.inf contains reference to it.

No original XP CD contain a reference to msas2k3.sys; yours is most likely a copy.

I wouldn't add the msas2K3.sys as it is a driver for windows 2003 and not for windows XP. See there the drivers package and as you can see there is a specific folder for windows 2K3 and the Vista_W2K8_XP-x86 folder doesn't contain a msas2K3.sys file.

You should edit your source CD and remove in txtsetup.sif any reference to msas2k3.sys and its other file as it most likely was added to your source CD.
