EdWh Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 From- EdWhI just finished inter-grading Sp-2 into a WinXP pro operating System. I have a new gigabyte Motherboard -GA-X58A-UD3R optimized for windows 7 and it will not load the original WinXP pro install disk, stops loading with PcI error which I discovered is from not having Sp2 integrated into the system. I usually run Sp2 and then Sp3 on the system after install to update but as I explained, the install stops with Pci error. I also have WnXp Home premiun with Sp2 and it installs fine so I decided to put the downloaded copy of WindowsXP-KB835935-Sp2-ENU.exe into the old system. I successfully copied the Sp-2 files into the operating system and attempted to install on a new Sata 6 - 1 terabyte drive. It attempts to install but after loading all the drivers and the menu says "starting windows" a menu comes up and asks for the original Sp2 Microsoft disk which I have but the menu says to put it into DRIVE A: the floppy drive which of course being a cd I can not do. I have no way of knowing of what the loading will do at this point as I cannot get past the floppy Sp2 request. The Sp2 files were copied and integrated into the Iso before I burned it with Nero to a Dvd. I used a Dvd to make sure I had enough room. What am I doing wrong?? I thought it would just load as the WindowsXP Home loaded. By the way I am writing this on the XP home machine with the gigabyte board and Sata 6 drives. I might mention here that I am running the sata 6 on sata 3 as I have a dual boot operating system with Ubuntu linux on one half and WinXp on the other. I am attaching hereto a copy of the inf files for the last successful intergration. For info for all others Ubuntu Linux will not run a Sata 6 drive the Kernal appears not to be update as yet. nlite.iniYour reply will be greatly appreciated I am new to this forum so would like to say hello to everyone and a Merry Christmas. Looks like a great help to all of us. I am not a dos guru but can follow systax that is complete and whether to use windows run command or bring up the dos prompt. Mr. Welch
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Welcome to MSFN.This question belongs to the nLite forum http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=89 , and you've attached the wrong .ini file. We need the Last Session.ini, found in the Presets folder in nLite. Why not integrate SP3? SP2 is no longer supported by Microsoft. You are installing on a SATA drive, but have you included SATA drivers into the CD?Cheers

EdWh Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 Hi Sbrat, Thanks for the reply, have found correct folder and will send with next post to forum you gave me. I do not believe Sp3 will install on here as it does not have sp1, last time I tried to run sp3 on this without sp2, it refused to install and advised needed at least sp1. Would love to do that however, but unless I know for sure it requires to much time, I do not want to load a virtual machine on here and have to test by installing. . Ed. Welch
Sp0iLedBrAt Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 (edited) As far as I know, service packs are cumulative, and SP3 can be integrated on any kind of XP x86 disk, without any previous service pack.A question: where exactly are you planning on installing this nLited CD, that it is troublesome for you do do a test or two?Edit: still waiting for that Last Session.ini Cheers Edited December 16, 2010 by Sp0iLedBrAt
