Hinkydink Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I have just finished a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on my computer. I backed up using Carbonite Online, Acronis True Image Home along with manual backups on a external HDD. After saving I noticed that the text all .doc extensions were "fragmented" for want of a better description. In restoring to the new system, I used portions of all three backups as I thought best. When I open .doc files on the new installation, the files are still fragmented. I can use Notepad or MS Word to open these files however I find that I can make small text changes and re-save the Doc under a new file name and the text is still fragmented. I can operate OK under these conditions however it is an impediment to efficiency. I have reinstalled clean again and the same thing happens. My old system was 32 bit, however I have been assured that the 64 bit system was the best way to go. Can anyone analyze my problem and send help? Thanks in advance. puntoMX Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 What version of Word were you using before, and what are you using now? If you can open the file in notepad it must be a rich-text format and you won't be having much options to change much in the document.Your question is not Windows 7 related and I'll move it to the Office section .
Hinkydink Posted September 27, 2010 Author Posted September 27, 2010 Got it fixed. Thanks for the help.
