I cannot share files between my desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium and my Laptop running Windows XP Home Edition SP3. I have done everything that I have been told by Microsoft and others and I still cannot access files on my host computer (desktop). I can see each computer from the other computer and can ping each of them but when I try to open a shared file on the desktop computer, I get a message stating that I do not have permission to view the file and to contact the administrator of the server. I have set permissions to "everyone" on the host computer and still no luck. Can someone help???

What exactly did you try? Did you disable the "password protected sharing" in the Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings? So, did you use advanced sharing options and you added "everyone" to the list giving read (and write) permissions?
