Syclone0044 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Current version 3.2.8 gives immediate error upon install that it's not a supported Host OS. Old versions are available: http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Download_Old_BuildsBut no documentation discusses which was the latest version that still did support Windows 2000?Any ideas? Here we see currently XP and up are supported. http://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch01.html#id2641244I have a feeling the kernel device drivers are what prevents Windows 2000 from working as HOST OS?
iamtheky Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 1.6 ended support for win2khttp://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?p=22027#22027http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/1474
Syclone0044 Posted August 31, 2010 Author Posted August 31, 2010 Thank you very much, iamtheky! That is exactly what I was looking for but unable to find.
Browncoat Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) I'm mainly concerned about running 2000 while using Mandriva, PClinuxOS or Linux Mint as the host OS. Edited September 4, 2010 by Browncoat
DosFreak Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I'm mainly concerned about running 2000 with Mandriva, PClinuxOS or Linux Mint as the host OS. You can actually use 2.0.4 on Windows 2000 but you'll need to download some modified files from Blackwingcat's website.Personally I'd stick with Vmware Player v3 which works on Windows 2000:http://win2kgaming.site90.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=553
