EagleWing
I just installed a clean version of Windows 7 Ultimate and when I attempt to use windows update I keep getting the error 80072EE2. Does anyone know how to deal with this &*^%$)* error? I searched the Net and all I get is one BS AD page after another suggesting I use some sort of REG fix it program, each claiming to be the best. I think they are all basically the same.Any help will be appreciated. Edited August 19, 2010 by EagleWing
cluberti
C:\Users\User>err 80072EE2# as an HRESULT: Severity: FAILURE (1), Facility: 0x7, Code 0x2ee2# for hex 0x2ee2 / decimal 12002 : ERROR_INTERNET_TIMEOUT inetmsg.h ERROR_INTERNET_TIMEOUT wininet.h# 2 matches found for "80072EE2"According to the error code, it's somewhat obvious what the failure is, but not why. You might want to take a look at a network trace, perhaps, to see why there's a timeout to Microsoft's servers.
Blekthor
You might try uninstalling the NIC and it's drivers and rebooting and letting Window 7 re-discover the NIC. I've seen this mentioned on a number of boards. Some have temporarily disabled Microsoft Security Essentials and then re-enabled in addition to the above.
