Ok so i put a file (ninite installer) in the $OEM$ > $1 folder of my XP setup source. During installation the file is copied to the C: directory just fine, but I would like to setup a runonce command using nlite to open the file on the first logon. I tried %systemdrive%\file.exe in the runonce command box in nlite and added it then I tested the disk in virtual box but the runonce command did not run, I'm thinking its a syntax problem. Do I actually need quotation marks around it? Is %systemdrive%\ the proper thing to use? Thanks in advance.

kingweaver88, that looks like it should work - no quotes needed. Where did you place the $OEM$ folder? It should be in the root of the folder with the I386 folder, not in the I386 folder. Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini file. Enjoy, John.

yea the $OEM$ folder sits next to the i386 in the root of the CD directory. That part seems to work fine because it does get moved to the C: during the windows installation. But the runonce command doesnt run. ive attached a copy of the last session.ini file.

LAST SESSION.INI

actually I just got it to work, simple mistake. I had set up two accounts one an admin and one a poweruser, the poweruser was set to autologon. When I logged into the administrator account the ninite installer went to work. So I guess my questions is, is there a trigger or something that needs to be used if I wanted it to run for the poweruser? am I mistaken that poweruser's are allowed to install software?

kingweaver88, does the second command run (oobe)? Are you sure that the .exe names are identical (in command and file name)? Please find NLITE.CM_ in your source folder (after running nLite), extract it and see if your RunOnce commands are in there and intact. BTW, I see you are running Vista (or W7) to run nLite to create an ISO for XP. This an be a problem especially if you are including a Service Pack. Enjoy, John.

EDIT: Just saw your last reply. Sorry I cannot answer your question about poweruser - never used it.

EDIT: According to Help and Support (START): Power Users can "Install programs that do not modify operating system files or install system services. "

No im not adding a service pack (im starting with a retail XP pro with sp3 disk) but I was trying to add the onepiece post sp3 3.9 update pack. When I was doing the slipstream process with nlite, I actually did get an error saying the SVCPACK.inf was in use, but the process continued with no further errors. I could definitely make a clean XP virtual machine real quick to do the slipstream process with. And yea that other command works fine in administrator, it brings up the windows activation wizard, i did this because im using a dummy key to automate the install process. Also does anyone else have any thoughts on the poweruser question? Thanks for your help man!
