Unsuccessful setup of XP with nLite.

I have Vista on my Sony VAIO VGN-NR310E, but I wanna use XP. The original OS of my laptop is Vista, and since then I've been going back and forth between Vista and XP OS. And now I end up using Vista. But this time when I slip the XP CD in, it doesn't work. The CD is fine. I tried booting from the CD itself but it gives me a message: "Setup cannot detect.." So, I do some research and I found out about nLite. I followed a very thorough walkthrough, but still nothing.
