unforseen issue with removing Internet Explorer

Hi everyone, I'm writing this in the hopes that someone can help solve this enormous headache I've run into. 2 Years ago I was young, Ambitious and clueless, now as an adult(more or less) I have a job that requires me to use things I never wanted to use, number one on the list: IE...now, 2 years ago i was only interested in a fast computer stripped of the things i would never use, hoping for better performance i enlisted Nlite to take the job, i jumped at the chance to block installing IE with the the other MS software, little did i know, I would soon be faced with an epic problem...

I now NEED IE to do my job, which involves uploading files to an FTP which as of yet only works with IE,

my apologies for the senseless dribble and blah blah blah of my past, the question is: Can I Undo what i did, can I bring IE back from nothingness?

as some background for what I have been trying for the past 6 months(all of which ended in failure)

1.tried to simply download ie8 and install;

2.tried the same with other versions of ie;

3.searched for answers on google;

4.broke down and searched microsoft support;

5.checked windows update, only to find that windows update requires you to use IE;

6.begged my computer;

and now i'm here, nlite is the only missing piece that connects why i cant install ie on this system, if anyone has any idea how to reverse my mistake(not really a mistake i prefer firefox or chrome)and get ie back "working" on my system, please by all means toss your 2 cents, using another browser is NOT an option, and reinstalling windows xp would be if i had a working cd rom...i know this is a doozy for a first post and probably impossible without re-installing windows but, hey it's worth a shot right?

thanks in advance!

Jey109, yep, a real toughie! We need to see your Last Session.ini. It should be on the CD you used to install your nLited XP. I am afraid you have removed IE core, which means real headaches, as you know. Please let us look at your Last Session and we'll see if help is possible without re-installing. I should point out that there is a sub-forum here installing XP from a USB stick. I suggest you should take a look. It actually may be easier to start over (including begging/borrowing a CD drive; you can probably buy one at Newegg.com for less than $30) than failing repeatedly using what you have. There are also many advantages to a clean install. Enjoy, John.

Try this...

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

;Issue this addresses: Allows you to reinstall IE6 within WinXP

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}]
"IsInstalled"=dword:00000000
