bpalone Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 (edited) To get VirtualBox 1.6.2 to run on Windows 2000, do the following:Open the MSI in Orca and go to LaunchCondition, then edit out the “NOT VersionNT=500 and” and then save the file. It will then go ahead and install. The limited testing I did with a pre-existing hard drive from a VirtualBox Linux installation, it appears to work just fine. USB didn’t want to work, but this could be because I didn’t install the OS from scratch and install the Vbox additions from this version. (The Hard Drive I used had it installed from a higher version and the mouse was going across between the host and guest without issue.)Will this work with higher versions, I don’t know. Will depend if there are dlls used that are XP specific. Before the Orca mod, it came up saying it only runs on XP and above.Just in case anyone has an interest in running VirtualBox on 2K.I will try a fresh OS install and see if the USB works with the proper VBoxadditions installed.Edit Update: Fresh install and 1.6.2 VBox additions didn't make any difference on the USB access. I remember having to tweak things in Linux to get it to work with this version. Edited May 8, 2010 by bpalone
