grmnz Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Hi,I have been lucky and won an HP Mini 210 in a draw. It's lovely but the system is pre-installed in the German language, and I have the following questions.1. If I follow the instructions on HP's web site will I be able to select English as the OS language or will I break it? (The keyboard is a German layout so I'm guessing some of the keys will generate a different character?)2. If I order the recovery CD's from the HP nominated vendor in the UK, when I enter the Product number it knows from that that the system is German. If I enter the product from the HP UK website as a UK product number, it has the English version, and when I enter the serial number it doesn't complain. Would this option work if (1) above fails, or is there something that would stop me doing this technically.3. Or am I better off giving up and just buying a new copy of Windows 7 in English and starting again? I have trawled several websites and googled for answers but have not found anything definitive - thank you in advance for any insights. Kind RegardsGraham

grmnz Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 Hi GrabbenThank you very much - you had missed nothing - installed and ran it and it worked perfectly. As an added bonus, I phoned HP in the UK and they heard my sob story and are sending me a set of UK recovery CD's, but these will take 28 days to come - so a perfect interim solution. Thanks AgainGraham
