Cannot get the language bar to show on the taskbar.

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I'm using nlite on XP Pro x86, to get rid of some unnecessary software and also unwanted language packs. Now I cannot get the language bar to show. In "Regional and Language options->languages->Details" the Language Bar button is simply unclickable? why is that ? What have I done wrong. Now I can only switch between languages with key combination but that way it is confusing and I want the language bar indicator on the taskbar to show up again.

Thank you very much for your responses!

Maybe u can try this:

1. 1st method:

Open Regedit. Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\LangBar

The setting shold be like this:

1) ExtraIconsOnMinimized = 1

2) Label = 1

3) ShowStatus = 4

4) Transparency= ff

2. Second method:

Write these code below and save it with LBfix.reg and open it:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}]

@="Language bar"

"MenuTextPUI"="@%SystemRoot%\\System32\\msutb.dll,-325"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}\Implemented Categories]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}\Implemented Categories\{00021492-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}\InProcServer32]

@="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\msutb.dll"

"ThreadingModel"="Apartment"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

"NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\LangBar]

"ShowStatus"=dword:00000004

Thanks for your reply bravosix.

Apparently I tried your methods and none of them seemed to work.

Still the language bar button stays unclickable as it first was so I cannot get any kind of language bar on the taskbar.

Do you have any other Ideas I might try?

Regards.

sys7em,

What have I done wrong.
We have no idea since you did not attach your Last Session as is requested in RED at the top. You have probably removed something that will kill the Language Bar. Enjoy, John.

oh just missed that thing, as it is really essential as you mentioned.

Please note the attached last session .ini file to this post.

Hope it helps to solve the mystery of my language bar.

Please note that I have removed a large chunk of the software and languages from the original xp installation ...

Regards.

i think you have removed to much with nLite.

sys7em, please see my attached screen shot. So, removing Text Services Framework is definitely a problem, perhaps not the only one. Try a run (starting with a fresh copy of your CD) with it included and see if that fixes your problem and let us know. The tweak "Explorer-Launch folder windows in a separate process" exposes a Windows bug and you may want to remove it. Enjoy, John.

Make startup key in the registry to autorun ctfmon.exe.

It should make your language bar seen on the taskbar.

Hope it works. :)
