Jack_uk
As the title says, I'm trying to figure out why my product key is getting ignored in the sysprep.inf using /reseal /mini setupI know the file is working to a degree because it's correctly filling in all of the other parts of the setup I've asked (Language, time ect.)Looks like this in the file[userData]ProductKey="XXXX-..."I've tried it without "" and as ProductID with the same outcome. I know it's the correct key because when entered manually no errors are thrown up.Also using the latest sysprep.exe from the MS site.Additional info: This XP image has been slip steamed with sp3 and updates from an sp2 disk nlite. The first install from disk continues without any problems from the key.Any help?
cluberti
Could you post your sysprep.inf file (X out the PK, of course), as well as attach the lastsession.ini from nLite if it was used to create this SP3 CD?
MrJinje
SP3 slipped into an SP2 disk. Sounds good. But more importantly what OS were you on when you slipstreamed it ? Vista or higher can cause product key issues as described in this link.http://news.softpedia.com/news/No-Rush-to-...ues-85718.shtml

without any problems. If I run sysprep I get prompted to enter my PD again even though it's given in the .inf and windows installs without asking me.I've run nlite in win7 RC. I'll try it in an XP VM tomorrow and see if that solves my problem.
johnhc
Jack_uk, please attach your Last Session as requested above. It makes it search-able and easier to deal with in general. Running nLite under W7 to create an XP ISO can be a problem, particularly if you add an SP. XP under a VM should eliminate this concern. You can also try running nLite.exe in XP Compatibility Mode. I would be concerned about your long list of hot fixes. I run XP x64, so am not familiar with XP updates but have seen several problems with them if not correct. If you continue to have problems, then I suggest you remove all hot fixes and try that. I assume you are testing under VM. You are using nLite privately and NOT in a business environment? Please let us hear. Enjoy, John.
Jack_uk
Thanks john I'll give that a try, I'm using nlite on a project of mine at home but I'm testing the sysprep configuration for work with that image.edit: oh yes those hotfixes. There just all the critical ones since SP3 I was trying too add. If creating it in a VM doesn't work I'll try it without those nextLast_Session__2010.01.29_02.04.05_.ini Edited February 4, 2010 by Jack_uk
johnhc
Jack_uk, some MS update do not integrate with nLite and I have seen several problems with XP updates. There are Update Packs that deal with all updates after SP3. I do not use one (running XP x64), but I think the RyanVM forum is the best place to find them. 5eraph makes IE8 AddOns (I use the x64 version) and I think he also makes an Update Pack. As long as you are not including an SP, I suspect W7 may be OK (use Compatibility Mode for nLite.exe). Enjoy, John.
