oao Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I do not integrate applications with nLite, but there is a bunch of MS programs/utils that I want to,as they are sort of extensions/fixes of XP64.I do not know whether they work with nLite and how -- e.g. what section. I looked around buthave not seen any references. Here are the names, download URLs and file names. If anybody knows or can refer me to posted references, I would appreciate the information.ClearType Tuner PowerToyhttp://www.microsoft.com/typography/ClearTypePowerToy.mspxcleartype.exeSilverlighthttp://silverlight.net/getstarted/Silverlight.exeSyncToyhttp://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/details...;displaylang=enSyncToySetupPackage_v21_x64.exeUPHClean v2.0 beta for 64 bit platform operating systemhttp://blogs.technet.com/uphclean/pages/up...ta-for-x64.aspxuphclean-setup-x64-2-0-48.msiWindows Installer CleanUp Utilityhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301msicuu2.exeThis one was started by MS but not for XP64, so somebody picked it up and did it.TweakUI 64-Bithttp://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=6TweakUI_64Bit.msiThanks.
johnhc Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 oao, I use Windows Post Install (WPI) for these types of installs. See the sub-forum a couple below nLite. Kurt_Aust's tutorial shows how to install TweakUI. BTW, he just issued the January update. WPI contains a utility called Universal Silent Switch Finder (USSF) that can tell you the switches to install many programs for no intervention. In the case of TweakUI (no install), I just copy to a folder in My Documents and stick a shortcut into my Start Menu. I am not familiar with most of your programs, but am curious about UPHClean. I discovered the 64 bit version recently and DLed it but have not used it. Does it help with long shutdown times? It is possible there is an AddOn for one or more of your utilities. See the AddOn sub-forum above and do some searching here. Enjoy, John.
oao Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 WPI sounds interesting and I may wait for 8.0 to try on my applications, but not these small bits and pieces. Using it does have, however, some drawbacks and at this point I am spending already time and effort mastering the OS changes integration -- one thing at a time.I need to study Aust's guide more.Re UPHClean, it's hard to tell if it helps performance. I've been using it because some errors were generated in my event log and it got rid of them.
johnhc Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 oao, what error messages? Please post a screen shot. Thanks, John.
oao Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 Alas, that was a long time ago and I don't recall. The only thing I remember was that I was getting some errors and in searching online for a solution I came across it, installed it and the errors went away.Perhaps if you did a search by its name you may come across something that talks about that.
