McAfee Labs Stinger

Featured Replies

Alright I found this free Virus Detection / Removal software from McAfee that runs on Windows 98. It only finds specific virus so its not a total package but it may have some use.

What I like is it is a single .exe so it runs without installation and can run from a usb thumb drive.

My question is... are any of the 1,370 threats it detects and heals actually a threat for Windows 9x systems?

Stinger is a stand-alone utility used to detect and remove specific viruses. It is not a substitute for full anti-virus protection, but rather a tool to assist administrators and users when dealing with an infected system. Stinger utilizes next generation scan engine technology, including process scanning, digitally signed DAT files, and scan performance optimizations.
