How to speed up boot process under Windows Vista or Windows 7

you now boot in 9s to the desktop. the end is not in the trace. have you interrupted the trace?

The only thing I see is that the WRITING Cache of the HDDs is disabled. Is this done by the newer driver?

Please also install the Sp1, you use a Win7 RTM with an old Security patch for the kernel:

Yes i click "Finish" after about 5 sec after i am in desktop, but i am shure that everything is loaded...

The chace was disabled by me, i thought it was faster without the cache.

Now i have enable the chace, the result is about the same.

I Have uploaded at the same link for u to take a look, but to me it seems the the same.

I will install SP1 and post some results.

Install the Sp1, run the optimization again and make a new trace and don't hit finish. Let Windows count down the 120s. give me the latest trace.

I did.

I did not get any changes after 6 restarts. Sometimes i get 63sec sometimes 70sec.

Horribly slow

I did try to find what was the problem but unfortunatly I wasn't able to. I found that "diskIO" takes a lot of time. Especially on <file name="Unknown (0x0)" ???

"Unknown (0x0)" is the Superfetch prefetcher.

you have a 20s delay in logon to the PC. Is the PC domain joined?

also the ExplorerInit and PostBoot is slow. How many tools do you start at boot? reduce them with AutoRuns.

Also zip and upload the ETL.

the group policies take too long:

the GP start at 37s and end at 84.2s. So this is the cause of a longer delay.

Also starting all services takes very long:

 <services autoStartStartTime="32082" autoStartEndTime="86115" autoStartDuration="54033">

reduce the loaded services and applications and check the group policies.

Just wanted to say thanks! This thread saved my sanity -- I was at the end of my rope after having reinstalled windows twice and the information I found here (and a few days of fiddling with drivers and running tests over and over again) is what fixed my boot-up/hibernation/resume issues.
