onetimeuser Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 Hello, fellow nLite user. I'm not a total noob to this but sometime I get lost as in what component does what and such, so I come to ask here for help.I've decided less is good, and in my sesson, I pretty much remove almost everything. It was fine and dindy until I went to college and required certain information input and component that I removed to login...Here's the website that I follow. The first time around, PERP didn't work but I got it working this time around.http://www.utdallas.edu/ir/how-to/utdwirelessxp.htmBut if you were to click on Step 2 on the link, I should be getting a Login pop/box/window to appear and ask for that username and password. Well, It doesn't. I can't really test it myself at home so I didn't realize this error until I came to school and try to connect. To summon it up, I can't get a window login box/pop to appear, and I'll put in my last uLite sesson so you guys might have a clue as to which component controls that function. Thanks.p.s: I wasn't able to find any good help using google because i know its called Login window and that doesn't match anything other than the initial login window that you get at the beginning...LAST_SESSION.INI
johnhc Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 onetimeuser just a quick suggestion. Looking at your Services section in the Last Session (thanks for attaching), Enable and Start all the services you have altered, reboot and let us know what happens - just a quick guess. Good luck, John.
onetimeuser Posted December 2, 2009 Author Posted December 2, 2009 Thank you for replying.I did what you say, and start all the services that I could, but a few doesn't have the option and they was 2-3 that I couldn't start altogther because I removed the services in the component removal part in the nLite process...One thing that I notice when I was doing this was Net Logon, because for some reason I couldn't start it even though it was set to manual when I did it, and I didn't see anything about it in my nLite for the component area. But ya, I did what you ask and attempted again. I got the Login Credential screen, and input my info. Than I got a "attempting to authenticate" status and was kept there for 5-6minutes. I'm sure that I did my info right, and everything was correct. Maybe it's something related to my nLite that made me unable to authenticate? I don't know....If this doesn't work out, I think I'm just going to not bother. The only reason why I'm doing this is because of WoW. ^_^ I can use the guest access point but it's restricted to browser only, and couldn't connect to the WoW server. Maybe I should find something to make it feel like a browser and attempt that. But that's my last option right now, so I'm going to try and fix this nLite related problem, most likely.Any other helps? Thanks
johnhc Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 onetimeuser, it was a quick guess that could be tried without running nLite again - sorry no fix. I looked more carefully at your Last Session and see that you have removed a ton of network stuff. I cannot guess which one(s) might be causing your problem. You probably need to start over and not remove so much. If you want to track down the real culprit, I recommend a virtual system (VirtualPC, VirtualBox and VMware Server are all free). Then you can build an ISO, boot from it and do your testing without ever burning a disk (coaster). Remember, please make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
onetimeuser Posted December 2, 2009 Author Posted December 2, 2009 No problem, and thank you for your help. I'm going to be reworking the nLite session again and looking at the networking part a bit harder as well as researching all of it this time. And maybe not remove so much services...I'll check back when I think I solve the problem, thanks.A question for you to see if this would be the problem.Under Service, Net Logon - Supports pass-through authentication of account logon events for computers in a domain. It doesn't start for obvious reason, but pass-through authentication seems like what I'm having trouble with...Maybe, maybe not. What do you think?
johnhc Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 onetimeuser, sounds like a good candidate to me, but I am not very knowledgeable about networks. Enjoy, John.
onetimeuser Posted December 2, 2009 Author Posted December 2, 2009 Alright. Thank you for your Help, John.I'll get working on the nLite ASAP and hopefully I won't be so hungry to remove everything that it'll do something like this next time. ^_^Thanks once again.
johnhc Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 onetimeuser, here is a link to Black Viper. It is a great link for understanding Services. Enjoy, John.
