vLite and HP's Recovery Partition

Hello folks, I'm new here, and am eager to try out vLite. My HP computer did not ship with a Vista dvd as most new PC's do, instead it has a "Recovery" partition on the hard drive. HP included a program on my computer that will allow me to create recovery DVD's, and these do not act/function in the same way an install DVD would. I do have access to the recovery partition and the files inside it.

Is it even possible for me to use vLite now? Must I buy/borrow an install DVD?
