win7 upgrade help

i have a compaq presario c706nr model laptop,it has a preloaded windows vista home basic edition....so is it safe to upgrade my laptop to win7..

Use the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor (now final RTM), it should tell you if you can upgrade to Windows 7 or what edition you can upgrade too. Here's the link:-
