SRCS28X (intel site bug or nlite bug)

I have WinXP x86 that I am trying to integrate RAID drivers into. The RAID card I have is a MegaRAID 300-8X (Which I believe is a re-branded Intel SRCS28X)

One of the problems I am having is that according to the intel site

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Des...03〈=eng

The download does contain drivers for WinXP but when I try to integrate them it only comes up with options for Win2K or 2K3 not WinXP.

Is this Intel fault, a bug in Nlite or am I doing something wrong (I suspect the drivers are not really for WinXP) ?

I have been pulling my haird out (well...just about) trying to get this card to work,

Hubird, thanks for the link - very helpful. This is clearly an Intel problem. I could find no XP drivers at all. The files are labeled correctly, but when I specify XP Pro for the OS, I do not get XP drivers, just W2000 and W2003. I would suggest you look at Fernando 1's sticky above about Intel drivers and/or use Google to try to find real Intel Drivers. Enjoy, John.

You might be able to perform the following on the .inf as many times they are similar IDs. Used this method for an Intel NIC issue - removed the unnecessary parts -, hope it helps.

a)	Comment out the initial [manufacturer] wildcard
- by putting a semicolon in front of %INTEL%

b) Make a new entry just below that one specifying the wildcard for only the Intel Base and Server 2003
- %INTEL% = Intel, NTx86.5.1

c) You should see the Devices listed under the O/s the .inf is for (in this case NTx86.5.2)
edit the minor version from ‘NTx86.5.2’ to ‘NTx86.5.1' *this seems simpler than copying everything*

D) Put this .inf back into the folder (copying over the old one, you can always unpack the .exe again if you blow it up)
E) Go to device manager, update the driver, and specify which driver to install; pathing it to your changed .inf

Thanks for the replies guys...

I think the main problem is that I do not know how to setup this card properly. No matter what drivers I use WinXP setup is never able to see my attached drives (the RAID card does see them hough). There is an option in the RAID BIOS to "Initialize" which I am trying at the moment (it is taking quite a while), what it is initialising I have no idea but it is worth a shot. I added my 2 drives to a RAID 0 set and it says it has created a logical drive I would have thought that is all I would have had to do

Anyway it is clearly not a problem with nlite...

Thanks...
