roteplex Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 I have removed UAC and now I cant install my Synaptics Touchpad driver and program, everytime I click on setup.exe in the Synaptics folder I get the message "To install this application, the local security policy option 'User Account Control - Detect application installations and promt for elevation should be enabled" I dont understand why I am seeing this message as I am an Administrator and do not require elevated rights, now that UAC is gone why do I have to deal with this garbage. Does someone know of a fix to this problem, I desperately need some help to install the drivers and program.
cluberti Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Sounds like the application that installs the driver is manifested to interact with UAC, and you won't be able to bypass this. You should find a way to extract the driver and install it manually from device manager at this point.
roteplex Posted July 28, 2009 Author Posted July 28, 2009 I have extracted the drivers and attempted to install them with device manager but, Windows only tells me that my current generic PS2 mouse drivers are up to date and does not port over the customized touchpad drivers. Not only this I need this software running so that I can utillize the scroll feature and others that are associated with the touchpad. If someone can send me post-installation files of the Synaptic touchpad software or know of a way to bypass the UAC notification it would be of great help. But if it cant be done I guess there's no way around it. Thanks.
