dreddric Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Hi,Is there a way in nlite to set the System Restore disk usage to lower than 10%? I want to set it to 4%, the Windows XP default setting is 12% (maximum) so 10% isn't much of a saving.nlite allows you to put it up to 99%, would Windows XP accept that considering the maximum setting is 12%?Thanks.
johnhc Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 (edited) dreddric, good question, I wondered the same thing. I have now done some investigation and the value is in the WINNT.SIF file. I could find no lower limit, so I suggest your give it a try and let us know what you learn. By give it a try, edit (I use notepad) the WINNT.SIF file after nLite completes the build but before you create an ISO and change the value to a two digit number. My current value is MaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk=10. I will try it myself on my next nLite run. The Registry key is HKEY_LM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\SystemRestore\DiskPercent, so you can experiment here if you like. I also found no upper limit, so experiment if you like. Enjoy, John.EDIT: I did some testing on my VM and the MaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk is the maximum that the System Restore Settings will allow. It was also the size (10%) when I first looked. I set MaximumDataStorePercentOfDisk to 99%, but was not allowed to set the actual value very high at all. It just went back to 3%, which seems to be the minimum. Edited July 23, 2009 by johnhc
