herbalist
I'm trying to change the screen resolution for just one user account on Win2K, unofficial service pack 5. The user for the account I want to change uses a wheelchair and sits farther from the monitor and needs 800x600. The rest have been set at 1024x768. When I change the resolution for that user, they all change. Am I missing something or is 2K incapable of using different resolutions for each user? Google searches keep leading to installing software for doing this.Rick
Colonel O'Neill
I'm pretty sure it's a system wide setting...You could run a batch file for his account at log-in to set the screen resolution to 800x600.

herbalist
A batch file it'll have to be. Wasn't expecting this from 2K when 98 has no problem running different resolutions for each user.Thanks.
Colonel O'Neill
Maybe it got moved to a Group Policy? I never knew that feature existed.
cluberti
Screen resolution is stored in the registry in HKLM for NT-based machines up through Vista, although Win7 seems to allow different configurations per user as of Win7 RTM. More testing should be done to confirm this, but after building a Win7 RTM machine on a box with 3 monitors, the changes I made for one user were not replicated to other (existing OR new users), and seemed to be per-user as it used to be in Win95 and 98. JustinStacey.x
This is one of the things I love about 95 and 98... doesn't work in Windows 2000!
