YoMoma Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 I been having this prolonged problem with my Zune software. It has never opened and worked correctly for over 4 months now. Just gives me the error that "Microsoft Zune has stopped working". Without even starting up.I`ve researched the problem for quite awhile. One thing many have asked was if I am running .NET Framework 3.5 (the latest). And I am.I`ve uninstalled and reinstalled the Zune software many times.I am running Vista 64 bit and running the appropriate Zune software.I was told to try a program called "Unzoone" which completly uninstalls the Zune software. Then reinstalled Zune software, multiple times with no luck. Then I found Zxian.org and read about possible DRM problems. Not sure exactly how DRM works with Vista, but I decided to try his possible fix.Well therein lies another of Vistas problems. My IE crashes alot. Happens everyday, sometimes it seems random, other times its the site that does it. The windows updater that Zxian.org trys to steer me to always crashes my IE. So I cant even get to the DRM installer. Here is the page that explains what I am trying to do. http://www.zxian.org/2008/11/20/microsoft-...working-solved/I have all my windows updates installed.I am at the end of my rope here. I am not getting much in the way of help on the Zune support forums.Anyone here have any more suggestions?
YoMoma Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 Tried to start my Zune Software in safe mode, guess what, it worked. Wouldnt play any songs, but that my be because of minimal drivers used in safe mode.I couldnt go to the DRM update site while in safe mode. It wouldnt display any websites in safe mode. But what does this mean for my software if it starts in safe mode, but wont out of safe mode?
Jones111 Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Could be the drivers as you said, or the codes, but the Zune codecs should be different than the WMP codecs and therefore should work.Try harddebugging it with some tools. First check what the software accesses directly before it crashes, then try to find irregular things.
YoMoma Posted January 31, 2010 Author Posted January 31, 2010 Sorry guys I havent updated this post, but I have corrected the problem. It was a DRM issue.I tried a microsoft website that had a program that clears your DRM folder and starts from new again, but my IE would always lock up from something from that site (odd isnt it?) and never was able to download the program that clears the folder.Simple answer to that, someone sent me a link to Netflix`s website which had the same program. So I downloaded it and ran it. My Zune works like a charm now.
