MasterShihoChief Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Ok so despite the fact that i have loaded all the drivers i can. They will not load with windows setup and will still cause a blue screen of death when setup tries to start with the infamous 7b bsod. I have slipstreamed multiple discs trying to figure out whats wrong. Even a disc just with the sata drivers just to hope for an install. I went through and copied windows 64 pro to a clean directory. I then implemented all my 64 drivers (chipset, Matrix storage/SATA, LAN, Video card, Realtek audio) and made a dvd and booted from it only to get a bsod. I have gone through multiple times from scratch with new downloaded drivers each time, and even a different x64 disc. I have created a cd with just the sata drivers so it would fit and still the bsod. I tried a different computer and even asked my friend to slipstream me a disc all to no avail. When setup goes through to load the drivers before installation starts, none of the drivers i slipstream ever load and blue screens every time. My specs are thus:Alienware M17x laptopIntel C2D T8100 2.10 ghz965M Express chipset2x nvidia geforce 8600m gt sli2gb ddr2 ramrealtek audio and lanintel 4965 agn wireless cardIch8m/e-m sata ahci controller (found using intel chipset utility)I have successfuly installed a 32bit xp slipstreamed disc on this comp before and just to double check i have ran ubuntu 9.04 x64 with a live cd and it booted and ran to make sure its a 64 bit processor, which all c2ds are.I have no idea now whats wrong and honestly frustrated and need a little assisstanceMy last session ini file is attachedThanks for any help you may provideLast_Session.ini
johnhc Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 MasterShihoChief, I am concerned with the large number of text mode drivers. The problem with text mode drivers, I have learned here, is that when several for the same device are included, then only the last one gets loaded (I guess they all get installed in the same place). So, you have included many text mode drivers and I suspect the last one is not the correct one. Your description shows that Ich8m is your controller type. I suggest you include only the drivers for it. Remove all the 10, 7 and 9 drivers. Also please post a link to where you are getting your drivers. I assume your original CD contains SP2. If not, you need to either run nLite under x64 or see this great guide to run under XP and have SP integration work properly. And, make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Let us know when you have tried with only the 8 driver. Enjoy, John.
MasterShihoChief Posted June 10, 2009 Author Posted June 10, 2009 (edited) The iso image is winxppro 64 sp2. I have tried just the one sata ahci controller i need along with the other drivers and have made a dvd out of them. I still get a bsod. I am running 32 bit windows xp pro sp3. i also had a friend of my slipstream a disc completely in windows 64 but that didnt work either. When i open the disc to see the files, i dont see that the drivers were put on the disc at all. I am very confused XDHere are some pictures of what i did and the bsod i got afterwards. Sorry about the poor quality it was taken with my iphone Edited June 10, 2009 by MasterShihoChief
johnhc Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 (edited) MasterShihoChief, I think the BSOD (07B) is just telling you that you do not have the correct text mode drivers. Again, please post the link to where you have DLed the drivers and we will take a look at them. Also post a screen shot of a Windows Explorer view of you SATA text mode driver folder. Are you running RAID? If so, you also need RAID text mode drivers. When do you get the BSOD - shortly after installation starts or some time later? I will be back after dinner to take a look. Enjoy, John.EDIT: Forgot to say that after running nLite, your drivers will be in the your source folder\AMD64\NLDRV folder and after installation they will be in the C:\Windows\NLDRV folder. I am raid capable in this laptop but i only have one hdd in here. As for posting a picture of the windows explorer my windows is kinda corrupted a little bit and so the wireless refuses to connect to anything so ill take a screenie of the folder from inside ubuntu:As for the error, it goes through the f6 part and the f2 part where i dont push anything, then setup goes through loading drivers. It gets through that and loads the fat32 and ntfs file systems then says Setup is starting windows and it blue screens. I never get to accept the terms or anything. johnhc Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) MasterShihoChief, I am going to look some more, but I have a question. Is your SATA controller set to AHCI in your BIOS? In general, you only need drivers for the HW that you are using. If you are not using the jmicron, then you don't need a driver for it. You do need to make sure your HDD is connected to the Intel AHCI controller. More later. Would it be possible for you to stick this Everest file into a folder and compress it with 7-Zip or what ever you use? I think it will be plenty small enough to fit if you do. If you can attach it then please delete all this in the post - thanks! Enjoy, John.EDIT: Right now my goal is to get where you have the correct text mode drivers and can install. Later the whole thing can be considered. Did you look in your NLDRV folder for your drivers? Please compress and attach your text mode driver folder - thanks. Edited June 11, 2009 by johnhc

johnhc Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) HOLY WALL OF TEXT CRITS YOU FOR 1000 DAMAGE!Kelsenellenelvian, this is really neat, but what does it mean!?MasterShihoChief, attached is a Windows Explorer screen shot of the F6 drivers I DLed. There are two .inf files. When you point nLite to this folder, choose Multiple Drivers so both will be included. Include no other drivers, just the Intel AHCI ones and make sure your controller is set to AHCI mode in your BIOS.EDIT: Others have had trouble with the nVidia 185.85 drivers. I don't know if this applies to the Notebook, but please see the recent posts on 185.85. Edited June 11, 2009 by johnhc

johnhc Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 MasterShihoChief, what is the result of the experiment I requested? Please consider my request to get rid of the huge post and post the items I have requested. Enjoy, John.
MasterShihoChief Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) I looked at the previous disc setup and it indeed only loaded the last in the list of sata ahci controllers as u said might happen. It loaded the ich9r do/dh sata ahci controller which isnt the correct one. This time with only the one implemented it loaded the ich8m-e/ich8m sata ahci controller which is the correct one and i still got the exact same blue screen a the exact same place Edited June 11, 2009 by MasterShihoChief

MasterShihoChief Posted June 11, 2009 Author Posted June 11, 2009 Congrats alienware on being epic phail again. Despite raid support being disabled, alienware put the hdd into the raid slot(i guess for faster speed). Hurray!!! for one hdd in a RAID 0 lol. Anyways i tried again with the jmicron raid controllers and its currently reformating and installing. Thanks for all the help. I guess this is a lesson that if u dont think u need the raid controller, u probobly do XD.OP requesting lock for solved problem/thread
