ethanmcf Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Hello,i'm trying to set up a DC running on Server 2003, which will consist of the DC, 2 local Clients running xp pro, and then several roaming clients which will connect through VPN, but because ive got a router in place, im not sure on how to set the DNS server up to work correctly, here is the info.Server Local IP: 192.168.2.6Local DNS Address: 192.168.2.6ISP DNS: 195.92.195.90Secondary ISP DNS: 195.92.195.91i have set up forwarders in the DNS Server and pointed them to the ISP DNS, but the clients cannot logon.ANy help would be great thanks, Ethan
Deploysrs Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 First thing you can do is go to each workstation and staticly set the DNS to point to 192.168.2.6. That way each workstation knows where to look for the Domain controller to logon. Also in DNS you should have the IP address pointing to itself for starters and thats it (192.168.2.6). Then do you have DHCP running on the router or do you have it running on the Domain controller. If you have it on the router then put in the IP address of the Domain controller in the Primary DNS and the IP address of the ISP in the Secondary DNS. That way the workstations look at the Primary first and then the secondary to get out to the internet.
