Guest Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 So I just recently fixed my sisters computer over a vnc connection and noticed that Apple had made quite a home for itself on her PC. Her kids have iPods. There were many services, tasks, startup programs, etc.I'm not at all familiar with iPods and was wondering if she really needs all that crap. What is safe to delete without losing iPod functionality?
DigeratiPrime Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 It depends on what they use the ipod for. IIRC the services are used for Network Discovery (sharing libaries) and Automatic Updates. iTunes is a very large program.
cluberti Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Agreed, also, they have a service for doing the media creation on CD as well (which seems absurd, and may not still exist, but I know it did when I still used it a year or so ago). I'd disable or remove any of the "updater" services, but the rest is probably best to leave.
