How to Log Off a Disconnected User

In XP, I could go to Task Manager, then Users tab and log off another user from my profile (as admin) and it worked great. That saved time from having to log on each user then logging off, then restarting.

However, in Vista and Windows 7, I get an error "User can't be logged off. Access is denied" although I'm the admin and other users are not.

Why is that?

are you running task manager with admin privileges.

admin start a command prompt and run taskmgr, then try?

edit: found this site

it has another method running taskmgr with elevated permissions in addition to the cmd prompt solution.
