exenter Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 (edited) I integrated all drivers (that was installed in the computer) in the nlite XP installation (including the SATA drivers that is needed to install on the SATA HDD). After I tried to install windows XP, it doesn't detect my HDD if I skip the F6 part. So I tried to manually load the drivers from a floppy disk (by pressing F6 at the start of the installation) and it worked. But after I formatted a partition the floppy drive deactivates (!) and XP can not be installed because it needs the SATA drivers from the diskette. This happens everytime, no matter what I put in the nlite XP installation CD!Why does this happen? This does not happen with the default XP installation CD. Edited May 24, 2009 by exenter
johnhc Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 exenter, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, John.
Guest Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Are you sure you are loading the drivers correctly? If you add them with nlite, there shouldn't be a need to use the floppy. Make sure the radio button is on textmode and not PNP as in the picture below.

Guest Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 (edited) Yeah, your not installing the scsi drivers correctly. Your ini shows each driver line ending in "somename,0". Textmode would be show the line ending in something like this -> ...somename.inf,somename.Why do you have so many inf files? Did you download some kind of driver pack? It appears you are loading standard windows drivers when you don't need to. For example machine.inf, keyboard.inf, netrasa.inf. etc.I would redo the drivers by downloading only whatever hardware you have and do them one by one...especially the raid driver. johnhc Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 exenter, yes SP is Service Pack. Only one is needed, the latest you want installed. Although I don't think I have seen so many drivers before, I see NO text mode drivers. The folder containing a text mode driver is distinguished by containing a txtsetup.oem file.Should I install the drivers one by one then?I am not sure what you mean by this, but all your work should be done in one nLite session. Include your SP, all changes, hot fixes, drivers, etc in one session starting with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders. You cannot use F6 unless you disable OEM Preinstall. Please see the help (? in a circle) on the General tab of Unattended section. Please let us know how you make out. Enjoy, John.

The reason I have some driver was because I wanted to make sure the floppy driver was included, but it didn't matter...The first time I tried nlite, I did not integrate any drivers, only SP3. So why was the floppy drive deactivated during install then? Edited May 24, 2009 by exenter
Guest Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Don't know why. There must have been something else going on.Just integrate your scsi drivers and you wont have to worry about it anymore.Make sure to start with a clean source!
exenter Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 I will try this tomorrow. Thanks for your help guys.
exenter Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 I just tried this and it did detect my HDD, but now there is a new problem:After I format a partition and files are copied from the CD to the partition i get the BSOD. The installation doesn't go any further... What is going on?See attachments for the last session file.LAST_SESSION.INI
johnhc Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 exenter, what is the error code on the BSOD? Is it a secret? Is it a 07B? If so, you still do not have the correct text mode drivers. Please post a link to where you are getting your drivers. Enjoy, John.

Please post a link to where you are getting your drivers. Enjoy, John.I downloaded the VIA Raid driver from: Via Arena (it is on the 5.70A package). But why would that matter? If I install the SAME drivers from a diskette before installing XP (with the original installation CD), it works fine!Anyway, I'm not sure about the error code. It started with 00000000X... or something. I don't want to try and install XP again (I've done that 5 times today!) just to see the error code. Edited May 26, 2009 by exenter
johnhc Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 exenter, it would matter because nLite uses a different method to include text mode drivers than the F6 method. I DLed and extracted your VIA drivers but cannot find fasttx2k.INF. You got this from your A disk. What is this and where did it come from? It says 2k (Windows 2000?), but you are running XP. I think we are getting close. Enjoy, John.

And the filename (fastx2k.INF) is also the same for all windows versions. I guess, I don't need to integrate this driver in the nlite XP install because I can just install them after the XP installation. Edited May 26, 2009 by exenter
johnhc Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 exenter, the fasttx2k.INF is a text mode driver. You need to tell us more about your hardware - VIA model, etc. I assume you are running a RAID. Is it attached to a SATA controller? Please post a screen shot of a Windows Explorer view of the RAID folder containing your VIAMRAID.INF file. Did you copy a txtsetup.oem file into this folder? If so, which one. I think the DLed VIA files are one of the most complex and hard to figure out I have seen. Good luck, John.
