anirudha Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Hi,I have a requirement to perform the unattended installation but my problem is this that I am not suppose to customize the winXP iso. I wanted to provide the winnt.sif through floppy , and also need to provide the lsi driver through floppy. I have tried many other ways to perform this scenario, but could not get any success on this. Can any one please give me some suggestions, whether it is possible or not Or what alternative can I have for performing the unattended installation without customizing the xp iso image. Any suggestion will be great help for me, please suggest me something on this,Just would like to explain my scenario once again,1. WinXP unattended installation, but now suppose to customize the ISO.2. Provide the winnt.inf file through floppy, (This is working for ide disk desktop)3. Also provide the disk drivers through same floppy drive. (Need suggestions on this, how can I achieve it.)Suggestion will appreciated .
Guest Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Windows setup will look in the floppy for winnt.sif. If it's there, it will use it. I don't quite understand your issue. For disk drivers, you press F6 when the F6 prompts shows on screen. Setup will run for a while after you press F6 and then it will ask you to choose the driver by pressing S. Once the drivers are copied, you press enter to continue.
anirudha Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 Thanks for taking some time to reply.Ok let me try to explain it once again what I am looking for.As I said I am performing a setup for unattended XP installation. I tried customizing the iso and pushing the lsi drivers inside the iso along with winnt.sif . It worked fine for me. But my requirement is , I am not suppose to customize the iso that means I am not suppose to push any driver inside the iso. As I am providing the winnt.sif file through floppy , the same way I wanted to provide the lsi driver through floppy. I prepared the floppy with the driver and winnt.sif answer file but its not loading the driver from floppy. I need a help whether this is possible to provide the driver through floppy for unattended installation of XP Or not ? . Or can you suggest me some other way to performed this without customizing the iso, just provide the drivers through floppy. Please reply .
anirudha Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 lsi it means , lsilogic disk driver. XP doesn't have this driver inbuilt,
Guest Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Ok, just making sure. When you say it's not loading the drivers what exactly do you mean? For instance, are you pressing F6 and telling setup to load them and then get a failure of some sort? Please be as specific as possible.
anirudha Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 No, I am not pressing the F6 to load the driver. but just want some way where the installation will look for the drivers in floppy automatically. Is there any entry that I need to add in winnt.sif which I placing in floppy ?
Guest Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Sorry but no, you have to press F6 to load those drivers.
anirudha Posted May 19, 2009 Author Posted May 19, 2009 Ohh, then that is gonna be prob for me. Well thanks for your help. Now I will have to look out for some other option to perform these things,
