How to Solve Hanging/Frozen Application Problems

I recently installed a file backup program called Drive Clone Pro v5 by Farstone onto my desktop pc. I am running Vista Ultimate x32 on a Dell XPS 600.

The problem that I am having is that when I boot the computer, prior to Vista starting up, the Farstone program appears to run first, and it indicates on the screen that it is "Verifying..." I've attempted to restart the pc numerous times, but without fail, once it reaches 30% during this verification process as indicated on the screen, the program hangs. I let it hang overnight (or rather, I basically passed out from exhaustion from trying to fix this problem) which tells me that it's not a matter of patience or anything like that. It's not going to get passed that point. My ultimate goal is to regain access to my files just as if I had never installed Drive Clone Pro in the first place. I should also note that I'm trying to avoid doing a system restore because there have been other program alterations/additions/deletions which were made in close proximity to the installation of DriveClone Pro a few days ago and since that time. Unfortunately, I didn't record those changes and wouldn't remember those if I were to do a system restore, and for an obsessive compulsive like myself, I simply cannot cope with that. I should point out that this problem I am seeking assistance with was discovered upon the first reboot of my pc since the installation of Drive Clone Pro.

I am not computer savvy by any means, but as far as I can tell, the way that the program is supposed to work is by taking a picture of the entire drive which can be used to restore files upon the need to do so. I took the two drives out of my pc and put them into another and they are showing up in raw format rather than the NSFT format that they are supposed to be in. Perhaps this is due to the program taking pictures of the drives for backup purposes? Anyway, I suppose that doesn't really matter, because what I am convinced that I need to do is uninstall Drive Clone Pro from the command prompt by using the Vista installation disc to get there prior to allowing the program to hang again during normal booting procedures. Would this solve my problem? If so, could someone explain to me how to uninstall the program, with the accurate assumption that I don't know how to perform this task nor do I know the appropriate way to list the program name in the command line?

Also, any advice as to a more appropriate way to handle this problem would obviously be appreciated also.

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode by holding F8 during boot?

BTW it's NTFS filesystem, not NSFT which looks like the stock symbol MSFT

Also Vista has the "Windows Backup and Restore Center"
