Windows 7 Analyzing drive before opening it ?

Featured Replies

Windows 7 takes around 30-40 secs before opening secondary Harddrive , it's full of media files but they have their own folders

it seems that windows is analyzing something before opening it... yung can see a progress bar/indicator filling up on the explorer bar

can we disable this ?

I believe it's looking for content such as programs, pictures, music, and videos for all external devices. It then presents you with a dialog asking you what to do, e.g. automatically play music or videos.

I think it also makes sure no program runs that's not supposed to as a security feature because viruses can spread with the AutoPlay feature. MS has changed the way AutoPlay works now.

Anyway, go to control panel, click on AutoPlay, and all the settings are there. You can disable it globally.
