reddogdan Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I'll try to explain my sons problem best that I can. My son and a (well meaning)friend replaced the mobo on a Dell XP desktop and are now caught in the Windows Activation loop. They did an Xclone of the hard drive first. The Dell only came with the recovery discs and there is no-longer any Dell parts left. I have an actual XP disc for my pc. Can I use my XP disc to create an Nlite bootable disc to get his pc started? or, should I call Dell and explain the changes to them and see if they will offer a new key? or just tell him he is out of luck and go buy his own XP version? Any help is appreciatedThanks
Kelsenellenelvian Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Dell will tell you to go stuff yourself. You will have to buy another license. The activation loop is because it is looking for the Dell signature, its not there anymore.
