Problem with Media Player

Sotcr, yes the hot fixes have to be presented to nLite in the correct order. One way to do this is to go to the RyanVM forum and look at the Update Packs. You can use the pack or simply use the included update list to determine the correct order.

I asked Booogy about nLite, WMP11 Slipstreamer and his tweaks. There is no way to select the tweaks when you use the Slipstreamer in nLite. However, you can do one of two things.

  1. Run WMP11 Slipstreamer on your fresh source, selecting the tweaks you like, then run nLite for all your other changes, against the same source.
  2. Run WMP11 Slipstreamer against your fresh source and then copy and save the wmp.in_ from your source I386 folder. Then the next time you want to run nLite, run it against a fresh source and before you make an ISO, replace the wmp.in_ in your I386 folder with the one you saved before. WMP11 and its updates would be part of this nLite run.

I am going to try method 2 the next time I build an install package. This may be too much trouble for you and I am sure running WMP11 Slipstreamer before nLite will be OK - I used this before nLite did it automatically. Just please don't get convinced that you can run nLite several more times against the same source. Enjoy, John.

EDIT: I am in the middle of #2 above, and I think it would be much easier and simpler to run WMP11 Slipstreamer against your fresh source and simply make this your new 'fresh' source for all future nLite runs. John.

So I cant add Windows Search 4.0 now? (Cuz I forget to add this hotfix)

And I'm sorry but will you tell me what's the problem with doing 2 passes?? :blushing:

Sotcr, don't know what you mean by 'now'. I think that search update is optional and can be added at anytime, if you want it.

There can be many varied and bizarre symptoms from running nLite more than once on the same source. I did it back when and saw missing Quick Launch folder, Windows logo on my Desk Top unsolicited and other strange behavior. Many users have come here with strange problems that were fixed by simply running only one pass of nLite. If you have a virtual system to test under, give it a try and see what happens. The real problem is that I suspect no one (with the possible exception of nuhi) can tell us what sequence works and what does not. I tell people to avoid it, instead of trying to figure out what happened. Enjoy, John.

I mean add with nLite the hotfiz of Windows Search

If a hotfix has been integrated in the wrong way, Windows Update will download it? or Windows will think than he have the hotfix installed??

(I have tried every ISO than I create, with a Virtual machine)

Sotcr, I would not add a hot fix to a source that already had nLite run against it. Just use the same Last Session file (C:\Program Files\nLite\Presets has all of them, date coded) and add the hot fix and run again. It will take a little longer but you get a good ISO out of the deal. There are some hot fixes that will not integrate via nLite. Windows Update will say they are not there, but I am not sure if installing is OK, or a possible problem. I would not, and do not, do it. I am running XP x64 and several hot fixes do not integrate, so I installed them from a batch file run out of RunOnce of the nLite Unattended section. I think RyanVM Update Packs are a way to avoid these problems. I do not use them, so I cannot be sure. Enjoy, John.
