whyfronts? Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 (edited) Hi,My daughter has a Toshiba satellite pro laptop,os vista basic, she recently has had the memory enlarged which did speed it up a bit,but it still seems really slow to load.I have deleted all rubbish from it and de-fragged.Although this has worked a little, its still slower than my own(xp on HP laptop)I was wondering if there was a programme that would help??Also,so I don't re-post she has no sound? When I look in device manager there is no driver for this either.Where is the sound card supposed to be located in a Toshiba so I can check??Any response to either question would be gratefully received. Kotuku Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Go to the Toshiba web site and their downloads page and put in your make/model and then see what drivers are offered, in particular for the Video and Sound. The sound and video are all part of the Motherboard chipsets and have specific drivers from Toshiba. Make sure the sound is not just muted or the volume wheel turned ay down.Check the Performance logs to see what is taking time.Goggle for "Vista Home Basic Services not needed", you may have a bunch of services loading that you don't need.Google for Autoruns (part of Sysinternals) and install that free program so you can see in detail what is running and can simply disbale from within this program. Here I did that for you <smile>http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspxIf you are really new to this, post back for more specific instructions, don't just turn things off!
